In celebration of 2006 World Cup Championship, the Max Morlock stadium was extensively modernised.
Following the modernisation, 44,308 seats are now available. This involved the grandstand, along with the southwest and northwest stands being raised and extended. The interior space together with the running track and pitch were lowered by 1.30 m so as to give all the seats an unrestricted view of the events taking place.
The supporting structure of the stand seating was hot-dip galvanised by WIEGEL and is capable of withstanding all the highs and lows of the matches played by the 1. FC Nuremberg football club.
